附1：摘要

Abstract: This talk is about credit scores and their use in the United States. The speaker will talk about different ways of measuring risk in banking and finance in the United States. The history of measuring risk will be examined, and how the measurement of risk developed into a number (credit score) assigned to individuals and businesses. An example of how credit scores are used by the credit card industry to determine which customers will be accepted, looking at average costs and average benefits, will be looked at. Also, an overview of how many countries around the world are now using capital calculations to control risk will be presented.

Biographical information: Mr. Richard Sutter is from the United States and has lived and worked in many states, including Virgina, Iowa, Minnesota, Texas, North Carolina, and Massachusetts. He has worked in the banking industry for the last eleven years, working under contracts for Capital One, Bank of America, US Bank, and Wells Fargo. He has a Masters of Applied Economics, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), as well as an undergraduate degree in Economics. He has only been in China since the end of August; he is teaching here along with his wife Mrs Linda Sutter who is also teaching at this school.
